Do I need to have a PayPal account to be a vendor?

Yes, you need a PayPal account to participate (unless you are simply linking to your website….see below). Customers check out using PayPal (or a credit card) and the money is sent immediately to you from the Haines Woman’s Club PayPal account to your PayPal account.

How do I set up a PayPal account?

This article does a good job of explaining everything. Please note, you do not need a business PayPal account to participate as a vendor. All online store transactions on this site use the Haines Woman’s Club PayPal account. Your PayPal account is simply used to get your money, so a personal account (the easiest type to setup) is fine.

Do you charge a commission?

The website charges a 3% commission to cover the PayPal online transaction fees. Besides that, all proceeds go directly to the vendor. For example, if you sell something for $10 and charge $5 shipping, you will receive $14.55.

Is this site only for Haines vendors only?

Yes, that is the intent. This includes Haines vendors who might not be in town right now.

I have my own website. Can I get a link to my website instead of listing my products?

If you have your own online store, we suggest you select a few top selling items and list them on the Haines Bazaar website, but do not include a price on those products. Instead, use the description fields to tell folks where they can buy your products locally. This will serve as an advert for your items, but no one will be able to check out, but you will be represented.

Am I allowed to make "side deals" with my customers?

Certainly, but be sure to include easy contact information on your Store Settings (see the instructions) so that your potential customers can contact you outside of this website. The site administrator will not be passing messages between vendors and customers.

What about shipping and delivery?

If a local, Haines, customer orders an item it will be marked as “local pickup” and it is up to you to contact the customer to arrange delivery. If someone from out of town orders an item, their checkout price will include the amount you specify for flat rate shipping (see the instructions). It is up to you to ship the item to the customer.

Do I need a PayPal account to buy items on the site?

No, you can also pay using your credit card during the PayPal checkout process.

What if I want to pay cash?

If you see something you would like to purchase and don’t wish to check out using your credit card or PayPal account, you are welcome to get hold of the vendor separate from the website. Vendors, if you sell an item outside of the site, be sure to remove the listing from your store.

How do I receive the items I ordered?

Haines residents will be contacted by the vendor to arrange a delivery time and method. Out-of-town customers should expect to receive the item via USPS mail, shipped by the vendor.
